What the number is
25 is the count of recruit-target rows the School Match engine compares a player against: a low and high value for one measurable at one level, each carrying the name of the source it was transcribed from. 7 cells the research looked for and could not source are recorded as gaps with the reason, so the product shows "no published target" there instead of a guessed number.
How it was built
The table is a hand transcription of a research dataset compiled 2026-07-22 ("Baseball level_baselines Seed Dataset: Elite/Percentile Performance Benchmarks by Competition Level") from published recruiting guides and measured showcase data: NCSA's recruit targets, NextCommit's measured bands, the Perfect Game 2024 circuit percentiles, and Baseball America / TrackMan and 11point7 / TrackMan velocity work. A test reads the research file and asserts every row in the product matches its source row field for field, so a number cannot be tuned by hand.
Where two sources gave a one-sided figure — a floor with no ceiling — the row is marked as such rather than widened into a range. Age-band percentiles for 14U to 16U are shown to underclassmen as context only; tiers are always computed against the recruit targets, never against an age band.
What it does not claim
A recruit target is a published guideline, not a roster decision. Meeting a range says a measurable is inside what programs at that level publish as their target; it says nothing about interest, admissions, scholarships, or fit, and the product's copy says so wherever a tier appears.
