NCAA initial-eligibility lines, as encoded

The academic thresholds the product grades against — core GPA, the sixteen core courses, and the 2023 removal of test scores — and what it leaves to the Eligibility Center.

Updated September 5, 2026

What the numbers are

A 2.30 core-course GPA for Division I and 2.20 for Division II, computed across 16 approved core courses in the NCAA's category breakdown. These are the lines a prospect's academic-risk read and a player's own eligibility checklist use.

Standardized test scores are not graded anywhere in the product. The NCAA removed the SAT and ACT from Division I and II initial eligibility for anyone enrolling on or after August 1, 2023 (2023 NCAA Convention). An earlier sliding scale that traded test score against GPA no longer exists and is not modeled.

What it does not claim

Only the NCAA Eligibility Center certifies eligibility. Sightline's read is a flag against the published line from the GPA a player or coach entered; it does not verify transcripts, course approval, or amateurism, and its copy says so wherever the read appears. Some schools still ask for a test score for admission — that is an admissions question, not an eligibility one.
