How We Handle Player Data

Every stat, measurable, and note on a player's profile is entered by that player or a coach acting on their behalf — never scraped from a third-party site, never bought from a data broker, and never sold or shared with anyone the player didn't choose to share it with.

Screenshot uploads (from GameChanger, MaxPreps, Perfect Game, or Prep Baseball Report) are read automatically to save typing — Sightline has no data-sharing agreement or live connection with any of these platforms, and nothing is pulled from them on its own. You upload the image; we read the numbers off it and show them to you to review and correct before anything is saved.

A player's profile is private by default. It becomes visible to a coach only once the player generates a share link and sends it — a coach can't discover or browse a player's private profile any other way.

A coach's own recruiting board only shows players who shared their profile with that coach, or players the coach added to their own private board by hand. One coach never sees another coach's board.

A coach's opponent scouting reports (hitter charts they upload before a game) are never connected to any Sightline player profile, even if a name matches — they're kept as separate, unlinked data specific to that coach's own upload.

A coach's recruiting evaluation notes on a prospect ("Looks") are private to that coach and their staff. A player or their parent never sees these notes, tool grades, or evaluator names, even on their own profile.

Most Sightline users are high school athletes under 18. Anyone under 13 can't create an account or submit their info through a coach's self-report link. Players between 13 and 17 confirm by checking a box — at signup, and again on any self-report form — that a parent or guardian is aware of and agrees to their use of Sightline and its Terms of Service and Privacy Policy on their behalf. We don't separately verify or contact the parent or guardian to confirm this.

A parent or guardian can review or request deletion of their child's account at any time — see our Contact page.

A player can delete their recruiting profile and its data (stats, measurables, notes, media, and any share links) from their account settings at any time. This removes the data immediately, not on a delay — and any existing share link for that profile stops working the moment it's deleted, showing a clean "this report could not be found" page rather than stale data.

Deleting your recruiting profile does not yet delete your underlying login account (email and password) — that's a real gap in what we currently offer versus what we intend to, and we're working on it. Until it's available, contact us and we'll close your account by hand.
